Samuel Henry Romilly (1849-1940) was the grandson of Samuel Romilly (1757-1818), a British lawyer, politician, and criminal law reformer. Richard Lovell Edgeworth (1744-1814) was a British and Irish politician, writer, and inventor. His daughter, Maria Edgeworth (1768-1849) was a British and Irish novelist and children's author who corresponded with many prominent figures of her era, such as Sir Walter Scott.
