A presentation copy from Thayer'sdaughter Sarah Ripley Ames to poet Archibald MacLeish. Ames' presentation inscription appears on her private business card, paper-clipped to the ffep: "Dear Mr. MacLeish, What you said of my father gave me very great pleasure. I wish that you and he might have known each other. / Sarah Ripley Ames". MacLeish's ink ownership inscription appears on the ffep, dated April 1920. There is a further inscription from MacLeish, presenting the book to a Harvey H. Bundy: "and by him to Harvey H. Bundy, having quitted the study of law / Archibald MacLeish".
