The Weary Blues was the published book of poetry by Langston Hughes, released in 1926. A definitive work of the Harlem Renaissance, the title poem remains one of Hughes' most famous works. This first edition, third printing copy was in the private library of Benjamin Brawley. Brawley was an American author and educator whose books include The Negro in Literature and Art in the United States (1918) and New Survey of English Literature (1925). He served as the first dean of Morehouse College from 1912 to 1920, taught at Shaw University, and was the chair of the English department at Howard University.
