Good; bound in contemporary leather with black spine labels and gilt titles, both with surface scratches and marks to covers and spines showing extensive wear, top edges of both spines torn and wear to corners; front hinges to both volumes compromised but bindings else tight; text blocks age toned with some liquid damage; plates present and intact but deeply age toned and foxed; foxing and age toning to pages throughout; previous owner bookplate on front pastedown and name in ink on ffep and title pages "Sam'l [Samuel] H. Black;" charming illustration on rfep of Vol. 5 (perhaps by owner's son?) of a gentleman (perhaps the owner?) seated at a desk taking notes on medicine. MF consignment.
