Luke Harvey Poe Jr served four years in World War II as a Lt. Cdr. with service in both the North Atlantic (U.S.S Symbol) and Pacific (U.S.S. Mississippi). The U.S.S Symbol operated in Reykjavik from March 31st through July 22nd, 1944, where this book was inscribed;
