1943/1953/1974. A four-item collection of classic Ellington documents: a typed letter signed by Ellington and three music programs.

Item #1: The letter is from Ellington to Columbia Records regarding two payments received despite the non-completion of contractual negotiations. Dated February 5, 1953, and typed on 8 ½ “ x 11” personal stationery. Ellington's signature appears in blue ink on the signature line. Very good; light staining and wrinkles with open tears to left corner and upper edge of the letter.

Item #2: A program and flyer for Jazz Interactions' April 28, 1974 tribute to Duke Ellington. Ellington would die less than one month later. The flyer is one page on 8.5" x 11" copy paper, landscape orientation. Mentions special guest Benny Goodman. In very good condition. Mild wear with some wrinkles to left corner. The program is saddle stitched and measures 5.5" x 7.5". New York, 1974. Pamphlet, 31 pages. In very good condition. Some wrinkles along spine.

Item #3. Program for a Duke Ellington tribute concert on April 29, 1976 (a benefit performance for Cuttington College in Liberia commemorating Ellington on what would have been his 77th birthday). In very good condition. A bifold program on one sheet of card stock, measuring 5.5" x 7.5". Vertical crease down the middle, and light age-toning throughout.

Item #4: A musical program for an Ellington performance at Carnegie Hall in New York. The performance took place December 11, 1943. The four-page show notes are also included, which lists the appearance of several other performers including Fats Waller and Billy Strayhorn. The program contains a number of ads and announcements for other upcoming shows. Program: New York, 1943. Slim Octavo, 15 pages. In very good- condition. Covers have moderate soiling, two small ink marks and pencil notation on the front cover, and mild age-toning. The interior has mild age-toning as well; Notes: New York, 1943. Leaflet (5.5” x 8.5”), 4 pages. In very good condition. Light age-toning.
