JOHN DEWEY AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED

Two sheets of paper, measuring 8 1/2 x 11 inches, with old horizontal fold, comprising three pages of an autograph letter signed by John Dewey. VG; paperclip staining to upper left corner, mild wear to sheets; dated February 29 of an unknown year to an unknown 'Herbert', Dewey writes about an unknown thesis regarding semiotics he read, stating in part "I haven't got very far - But on page 1 where is found what seems to be the ambiguity in his treatment...I think his treatment would be simpler if he confined "symbols" to communication language of socalled artificial signs, + demarcated them from socalled "natural signs."...Many of his detailed analyses are excellent, but I have the feeling that the difficulty in reading the dissertation is due to the fact that he hasn't thought out the relation of his fundamental conceptions to one another...My remarks are not a condemnation of the thesis as a whole..." shelved Case 7.
