NOTES

Terence Ian Fytton Armstrong (1912-1970), better known as John Gawsworth, was a British writer, poet and compiler of anthologies, both of poetry and of short stories. Siegfried Loraine Sassoon (1886-1967) was an English poet, writer, and soldier. Decorated for bravery on the Western Front, he became one of the leading poets of the First World War. A lovely connection between two leading British poets.
