Rubbing and chipping to boards. Cracking to hinges. Text block slightly age-toned and foxed, with a few small stains and scattered damp staining. Marbled endpapers. Annotations to front free endpapers and scattered annotations throughout text. A handwritten partial index written in pencil on the final two blank leaves. Frontispiece supplied from a 12mo edition. First leaf bears coat of arms on recto. In this copy, line 12 of title ends: deliver-.

Authorship of the Eikōn basilikē was originally attributed to Charles I, but according to Madan (pp. 125-33) it was written by John Gauden who probably included some authentic writings of the king.
