Chipping and wear to edges of early portions of binding. "The moral characters of Theophrastus" has a separate title page, with imprint "printed in the year, 1698", on leaf 2G2r. Text and register continuous despite pagination. With a final contents leaf. Signatures: A-2K⁸ 2L⁸(-L7-8). An ownership inscription marked through on the front free endpaper; several names, including that of Tho[mas] Houlkes written on the title page; an inscription reading "John F.M. Dovaston. Westfelton. Gift of his brilliant friend Joseph Warren. 1827." Some water damage to first signature and first two pages of second signature. Ex-library stamps on front free endpaper, title page, and p. 187; checkout slip pasted to rear free endpaper. Scattered pencil marginalia throughout. Minor water damage to lower corner of final two signatures. Minor insect damage to signature Gg. Text block age-toned.
