Spine tanned; minor scratching to boards, rubbing to bottom of boards. Text complete but not fully in sequence. Lacking 8 pp of endmatter. The name of two previous owners are written on the first page of text: W.E. Smith of Frankford, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 11th July 1898 and Char[le]s Heatly, Middle Temple, 1776. Ink doodles and text on both pastedowns. Marginalia and underlining in ink scattered throughout text. Title page is a modern reproduction, not the original. Open tear to the lower margin of 111, to the lower corner of 113, to the outer margin of 221. Flaws in the paper resulting in two holes in the outer margin of 239 and one hole in the margin of 241. Closed tear to the outer margin of 308. Some denting and small closed tears to the top of the text block. Several very small holes in title page. Some chipping to corners of first leaf of text and to final four leaves. Very small closed tear to upper margin of 7. Text block slightly age-toned.

The first dialogue was originally published in 1528 as Dialogus de fundamentis legum Anglie et de conscientia (STC 21559) and adapted and translated into English as "Dyaloge in Englysshe bytwyxt a doctoure of dyvynyte and a student in the lawes of Englande" (STC 21561). The second dialogue was published in 1530 (STC 21565). One of two imprint variants of this edition.
