Washington: Government Printing Office, 1863. 10mo; G; lightly sunned brown spine with gilt text; original publishers cloth has decorative blind-stamped borders and illustration to front and rear; raised bands to spine; small dark spot to front; stain to lower spine toward front joint; otherwise few tiny spots to exterior; small chips to spine edges; some rubbing wear to edges; mild sunning to rear toward edges; text block exterior edges have age toned; damp staining to front and rear endpapers; name of former owner, Major Frederick Prince of the 16th Artillery Regiment of New York, to fep in ink; Major Prince's name and regiment also written to title page; mild crinkling to several first pages due to damp staining; interior pages show light wear, overall unmarked; binding good; illustrated; pp 229, text; pp 89, plates at rear
