NOTES

Two editions were published this year, this being the first Modenese edition of the Secchia Rapita, considered the best in terms of content and typography.;

Alessandro Tassoni (1565-1635) was an Italian poet and writer, best known as the author of the mock-heroic poem La secchia rapita (The Rape of the Pail). It is by virtue of this work that he is remembered as Modena's poet laureate.
