Delacroix (1798-1863) was a French artist noted for his contribution to the French Romantic movement. His work was favored by the French government, particularly beginning in the 1830s, and he was repeatedly commissioned to provide works for public buildings. Alfred Robaut (1830-1909) was a French designer and an engraver. He created the first catalog depicting Delacroix’s work.
