NOTES

Martyn Green was an English actor and singer. He is best known for his work as principal comedian in the Gilbert & Sullivan comic operas, which he performed and recorded with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and other troupes. Ella Louise Halman was an English opera singer and actress, best known for her performances in the contralto roles of the Savoy Operas with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. Halman left the D'Oyly Carte organisation in 1951 and moved to America, where she toured, along with Martyn Green, in a series of Gilbert and Sullivan productions presented by S. M. Chartock. That tour is presumably when this book was signed.;
