Jacobis Stoer, 1607. Text in Latin. Sextodecimo in contemporary vellum boards. There is a blind-tooled pattern of bands and stars on spine, with “Macrobius” inked in the top compartment, and the binding is tight Two provenance notes on the front fly and title page are dated 1645 and 1858. Condition: Very Good. Some staining to the vellum and to the bottom of the text-block. Dimensions 3.625 x 5 x 1.75 inches.

Macrobius (floruit 400 CE) was a Roman scholar about whom relatively little of certainly is known. However, his Commentarii in Somnium Scipionis was particularly valued throughout medieval Europe for its insights into Neoplatonic thought.
