During the ceremony, I was seated next to Jon Voight, who won an Oscar that night for best actor in Coming Home. We were chatting, and I mentioned that I was working on a longer version of The Divided Trail, and that I was planning to film Buffy Sainte-Marie performing a new song for it the next day. Jon asked if he could come to the filming, and said he would be happy to do an introduction to the movie. He and Buffy hit it off, and the longer version of The Divided Trail was then eventually shown on European television, including Jon's introduction and Buffy's new song, ‘Walk in Balance.’ This photo was taken during a break in the filming.” Dimensions: Print: w 11 in x h 14 in; image: w 8.5 in x h 12.5 in Condition: Excellent. He told me that he had just finished Romeo and Juliet and was thinking about being in a new film, Titanic. The rest, of course, is history. Chicago: Second City Newspaper, 1969. A collection of nine original photographs of the protests which took place at the Grant Park Bandshell on the first day of the trial of the Chicago 8 (September 24, 1969). Taken by a staff photographer for the underground newspaper Second City. The photographs depict: the Black Panther Party of Illinois Deputy Chairman Fred Hampton and his entourage urging people to free Bobby Seale (four photographs); Abbie Hoffman, surrounded by photographers and addressing the crowds (three photographs); the somewhat integrated (though mostly African American) seated crowd (one photograph); and a group of marchers holding a “Support Black Liberation” banner (one photograph). Four of the photographs were published by Second City, notably, the striking portrait of Fred Hampton used on the cover of Vol. 2, no. 3. Two 8” x 10” photographs; seven 5” x 7” photographs.
