As such, 'FIRST EDITION' is stated on the copyright page, with a full number line, but '2nd Edition' is stated at the foot of the title page. The hardcover first edition was limited to 2,000 copies. A thousand copies were unsigned with the ISBN of 0-375-42052-5, and a thousand copies were signed by the author and issued with the ISBN of 0-375-41034-1. This is one of the 800 that were signed on a tipped in page with a large 'Z' in blue ink. He also signed Z in script on the "This is not for you page" together with a rough schematic drawing of walls, a door and three tiny explorers in red, and dated in blue '3/14/00'; text block clean, lacking the common red remainder dot; in excellent condition; MS consignment; shelved case 6.
