Significant wear to lightly soiled boards at corners and spine ends. Ex-library with associated markings, including "Institute of the Aeronautical Sciences" stamp on top edge of text block and, with address, on front paste-down; attractive blind-stamp from same institute on title page is dated 1932. Abrasion and offsetting to front and rear endpapers. Hinges starting at front endpapers. Age-toned brown paper envelope adhered to rear paste-down is now empty. A few marginal pen marks scattered throughout text. Split-start at pg. 80-81 & 192-193. All else is very good. A compendium of articles originally serially produced as articles in 27 issues of The Railroad and Engineering Journal (New York) beginning in October, 1891. Per Preface, this collection marks their first appearance together in book form. The Wright Brothers are said to have consulted this book while building their first flying machines. Very scarce.
