This is presented as the first, full account of the British Royal Commando attack on the German docks in St. Nazaire, France in March 1942. Royal Navy and Royal Commandos piloted an obsolete destroyer loaded with tons of explosives into the dock system. Casualties were heavy but the damage done when HMS Campbeltown exploded it destroyed the only docks capable of handling German battleships, then a most serious threat to Allied shipping in the Atlantic.
