VG-/VG-. slim black spine with bold ivory capitals for titling. mild yellow tape residue near gently worn head and foot. flaw extends across upper and lower panel edges and onto inner flaps. dry, patchy yellow stain. moderate edgewear, few closed cuts to multicolor jacket front bottom edge. slim turquoise cloth HB spine, gold titling, adjacent boards are a khaki shade, sharply cornered. decorative map illustrated endpages, discoloration where inner flap tape residue has contact with the inside board. as is. textblock is a basic ivory and clear. green tinted head-edge, roughly trimmed fore-edge and a tanned slim tail edge. 111 pp., (followed by unpaginated section of book adverts).
Garden City, NY: Doubleday, 1949. First Edition. Octavo, 471pp. hard cover with dust jacket in VG/VG condition. Author signed and inscribed illustrated bookplate, pasted on blank front matter page. DJ wrapped in protective Brodart. Bumping and shelf wear. DJ is worn and shows some shallow chipping at extremities. Damp stain to rear and front lower corners, continuing along lower flap edge. Rubbing and chipping to DJ covers. Spine is sunned. Some occasional foxing spots within text. Rear of bookplate page, and half title page shows some staining from bookplate adhesive. Tan cloth covered boards are clean. Text is clean, binding is tight Shelve in case #5. Spine is tan with black and red lettering.
